We are happy to announce details of the 19th Annual GSGW Summer Camp, a weekend of musical instruction by exceptional teachers in a beautiful, ocean side setting in Crescent Beach, BC on June 4 - 6, 2010. After the great success of the previous workshops, we are again offering an affordable and fun way to learn new techniques and skills. The weekend also provides time to perform, jam and socialize with those who share our common musical interests.

FACILITIES

The camp is a comfortable community facility. The ocean is close by with a long, sandy beach for swimming and walking. Dormitories sleep up to 6 in a room; cabins that sleep up to 8 are also available. There are no single rooms or rooms for couples. This is an adult camp; students under 19 years should phone us before registering.

FOOD

Healthy and hearty catered meals with vegetarian options are served three times Saturday and twice Sunday, with evening snacks. A supper of soup and sandwich will be provided on Friday evening.

CLASSES

You can choose 2 classes from those offered for a total of 4 hours instruction in each class (8 hours total over the weekend). Class sizes are usually 4 - 10 students per instructor. Instruction is geared toward a variety of ability levels.

BRING: bedding and towel (none provided), swimsuit, picks, capo, extra strings, tape recorder and tapes, pen and paper ... and a well rested body ... we mean it!

CAMP POLICY: No drugs or pets; smoking outdoors only, away from groups and high traffic areas. The Georgia Strait Guitar Workshop takes no responsibility for the safety of participants, their personal effects, instruments or vehicles. This is a closed camp for security and safety reasons. No visitors please.

HOW THINGS WORK

Friday: Registration at the camp starts at 5:00 pm, with supper at 6:00 pm. Everyone convenes in the main hall at 8:00 pm when instructors describe and demonstrate their classes, after which you make your course  selections.

Saturday: Classes run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, and from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The legendary Saturday night concert begins at 7:00 pm, providing an opportunity for you to perform in a supportive atmosphere.

Sunday: Classes again run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, and from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm with time to pack and clear the camp by 5:00 pm.

COST AND REGISTRATION

Places are allocated to the first 70 registrants (by date of receipt of registration form), so register early to ensure a place.

The Early Bird price is CDN$275 and must be paid in full (postmarked) by April 1st. Places remaining after April 1st will be at the Regular price of CDN$295.  Please send a cheque or money order made out in full to The Georgia Strait Guitar Workshop at the address on the registration form. The Summer Camp fills up very fast so don't delay in sending in your application; places are filled according to the postmarked date on your letter.

Cancellation policy: A $25 cancellation fee is charged on all cancellations. Fees paid will be retained to be used as credits for future events with the understanding that the extent of the credit given on cancellations received within 14 days of any event will be at the discretion of the organizers.
